STADIUM AUDIO AND OUTDOOR PUBLIC ADDRESS

In looking at the best ways to distribute sound over large public areas where many people will need to hear what is being said, the environment will often dictate a lot of the sound system's attributes. In a stadium area where people are typically seated in the same areas time and again, you can focus the majority of the sound on those spaces. Whereas at a park or fairgrounds you need to send that sound to many different places in order for the sound coming through the system to reach the majority of the people. We've been lucky enough to do a variety of outdoor systems from fairgrounds to Little League baseball fields to college baseball and softball fields. And recently we completed our most demanding outdoor system to date: a college football stadium.

In 2009 we were tasked with the installation and implementation of a high-tech sound system for Indiana University of Pennsylvania's George P. Miller Stadium. We partnered with Edward Simon & Co., a renowned and well respected sound engineering and installation firm based in Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Simon was able to provide us with the equipment we needed, assisted in the engineering of the project, and with his on-site facilities was able to manufacture custom speaker mounts (as well as various other pieces) that were designed specifically for this stadium.

The new sound system, designed by Ken Ciroli, the A/V, Media Specialist at IUP, features state of the art digital amplifier controls, remote power control, NFL grade referee mics, a hearing assistance system, and much more. After many, many, MANY hours of work we were able to deliver a system that exceeded the expectations of the university staff, even those who were intimately involved of with the planning of the project from its inception.

If you're interested in reading more about the system and some of the equipment used, here's a link to a press release made by Electro-Voice (more commonly known as EV), the company who manufactured a number of the products that we used in this project:

The IUP Football Stadium Project was a high-tech, high demand system, since that's what was called for in that particular environment. Your needs may be very different. And as such, your system would be different from this one. Wherever you need to install a sound system so the public can be able to hear announcements, music, or whatever else you desire, there's a system that will fit your application.

Let us help you design a system that fits your needs, your budget, and the surrounding environment.

Mack Park Pool

When we were called about the PA system at the Mack Park Pool the main idea was simplicity. The system is used to make announcements to the guests of the pool and to play music. After looking at the equipment that was already installed at the pool, we decided to propose a new system to them which would allow for very simple operation while at the same time improving the quality of the sound that the guests would be listening to.

We installed a combination mixer / amplifier as the heart of the system along with four EV weatherproof speakers. The EV speakers were chosen due to the reliability of EV products and the excellent sound quality offered by this particular speaker. We also installed conduit on the side of the building that houses the sound system to protect the speaker wires from the weather and to prolong the life of the system. The results can be seen below.

The new pool sound system allows the staff to effectively communicate with the guests while providing the patrons with great sounding music, helping them to enjoy their time in the sun.
